Dr. Sones earned her D.V.M. from Louisiana State University and a Ph.D. in reproductive physiology and genomics from Cornell University. Jenny studies mechanisms of pregnancy maintenance in horses and mice for translational biomedical research. Among other projects related to equine fertility and pregnancy, Jenny holds a $3 million NIH grant to study pregnancy complications. The Sones laboratory focuses on the basic mechanisms of pregnancy. Her research focuses on how maternal obesity with hyperphagia contributes to the risk of preeclampsia, pregnancy hypertension, and cardiometabolic disease in offspring. The interaction of the microbiome, inflammation, and pre-existing conditions, such as obesity, and their impact on fertility.
In addition to her bustling research activities, Jenny also runs a highly successful clinical program at CSU's equine reproductive clinic. She regularly speaks at International meetings on equine medicine and reproduction.
