Carlos Ramires, DVM, MSc, graduated in Veterinary Medicine and obtained his Master's degree in Animal Reproduction from the São Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil. Throughout his career, he has focused on advanced equine assisted reproductive technologies, combining clinical practice with laboratory-based embryo production and reproductive biotechnology. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters in the field of equine reproduction, with particular interests in ovum pick-up (OPU), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), semen evaluation, embryo production and the clinical application of emerging reproductive technologies.
In recent years, Carlos has collaborated closely with researchers at the University of California, Davis on studies investigating equine in vitro fertilization (IVF), ICSI and sperm biology. His contributions to these collaborative projects have advanced understanding of the factors influencing embryo development and reproductive efficiency in the horse, further strengthening the link between academic research and clinical application.
As co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of GeneTech Animal Reproduction, Carlos Ramires oversees laboratory operations and quality management across the company's international reproductive programs. He remains actively involved in clinical procedures, including follicular aspiration, advanced semen evaluation and embryo production, while leading the implementation and refinement of laboratory protocols. His work bridges scientific research and daily clinical practice, with a strong emphasis on translating new reproductive technologies into reliable tools for commercial equine breeding programs.
