Jean-François Bruyas, DVM, PhD, HDR, DECAR, is Professor of Theriogenology and Reproductive Pathology at Oniris – Nantes Veterinary College, France. He graduated from the National Veterinary School of Toulouse and has been involved in teaching, clinical practice and research in animal reproduction at Nantes since 1987, becoming Professor in 1998.

A Diplomate of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR), Jean-François has devoted much of his academic and clinical career to equine reproduction. His research has focused particularly on the control of the estrous cycle and ovulation in mares, equine embryo transfer and cryopreservation, semen preservation, and the sanitary risks associated with reproductive biotechnologies.

Alongside his research activities, he has extensive experience in clinical equine theriogenology and artificial insemination and has trained generations of veterinary students, residents and practitioners in reproductive medicine. His combination of clinical experience and reproductive physiology has made him a widely recognized figure in European equine reproduction.
