Wendy Wambacq graduated from Ghent University (Belgium) with a degree in veterinary medicine in 2011. After two years in mixed equine and companion animal practice, she pursued a residency in Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition at Ghent University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. In 2016, she became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ECVCN), qualifying as a European Specialist in Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition.

She obtained her PhD in Veterinary Medicine in 2021, investigating the influence of nutrition on immune function, a line of research that resulted in an international patent. Following her doctoral studies, she worked in research and development at Versele-Laga, with a particular focus on equine nutrition, before joining the Equine Care Group as Senior Nutritionist in 2022. In addition to her clinical work, Wendy serves as an academic consultant and co-supervisor of the ECVCN residency programme at Ghent University and is actively involved in postgraduate education as a member of the Education and Residency Committee of the ECVCN. She also serves on the Board of the European Society of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition.

Her professional interests focus on evidence-based equine nutrition, the nutritional management of athletic and breeding horses, and the interactions among nutrition, immunity, and health. She regularly lectures at national and international continuing education courses for veterinarians and contributes to advancing the field of veterinary nutrition through both clinical practice and research.
